Welcome to Tropical band

To most people the phrase "tropical bands" bring a pretty clear picture to mind - a bunch of shirtless guys playing calypso music. But to experienced shortwave DXers those two little words express the most challenging and enjoyable part of the radio hobby. The phrase kindles memories of a DXer's best catches and favorite QSLs, of exotic stations, music and of early morning listening sessions. (Don Moore)
I like the "Tropical band" name for new 60m allocation. (OK1RP)

Effective from 1st Jan 2017 please paper QSL via OM-bureau only.

Happy New Year 2016

I wish you happy, prosperous and healthy New Year 2016

South Cook Islands as E51WET on 60m by Magnus, SM6WET

Magnus, SM6WET, has authorization and will attempt to operate 60 meters while in the South Cook Islands as E51WET:

·         December 14-16 on Rarotonga Island
·         December 17 - January 4 on Aitutaki Atoll
·         January 4 - 9 on Rarotonga Island again

Magnus reports that the Aitutaki QTH will likely be more conducive to operation on the lower bands, although he will not know specific details until his arrival. As with many expeditions, extra baggage can be very expensive. One additional bag results in a surcharge of $520 for this trip -- a big hit for any expedition, but particularly noteworthy for a one-man expedition. Donations to help offset excess luggage costs can be made to sm6wet@telia.com on PayPal. Every little bit helps and would be greatly appreciated. Be sure to include your call and mention 60m in the PayPal comments section.

Many thanks to Joe, W8GEX.
