Welcome to Tropical band

To most people the phrase "tropical bands" bring a pretty clear picture to mind - a bunch of shirtless guys playing calypso music. But to experienced shortwave DXers those two little words express the most challenging and enjoyable part of the radio hobby. The phrase kindles memories of a DXer's best catches and favorite QSLs, of exotic stations, music and of early morning listening sessions. (Don Moore)
I like the "Tropical band" name for new 60m allocation. (OK1RP)

CT - Portugal on 60m by Jose, CT1EEB

Hello all,

Portuguese 5 MHz prime mover Jose, CT1EEB, reports on changes to the 60m allocation in Portugal. These include some of the existing channels, plus the new WRC15 allocation!

“Just received my 60m band license renewal from ANACOM . I am the first station in CT1 to be allowed to use the new WRC-15 60m. frequencies. I have been authorized:

5371.5 kHz A1A and J3E
5403.5 kHz A1A and J3E

5351.5 kHz to 5366.5 kHz A1A and J3E (the new WRC-15 frequencies).

No power limit.

73  Jose  CT1EEB”

It is very important to notice that ANACOM understood well the situation on 60m band worldwide and preliminary WRC-15 band plan for those countries where 60m band allocation was not arranged until now.

ANACOM did not revoked the current channels in licenses and just extended it for the new WRC-15 band.

Also the unlimited power indicates that Portugal is on the right way!

(Many thanks for Paul, G4MWO and Jose, CT1EEB for info)

best regards,
73 - Petr, OK1RP
