Welcome to Tropical band

To most people the phrase "tropical bands" bring a pretty clear picture to mind - a bunch of shirtless guys playing calypso music. But to experienced shortwave DXers those two little words express the most challenging and enjoyable part of the radio hobby. The phrase kindles memories of a DXer's best catches and favorite QSLs, of exotic stations, music and of early morning listening sessions. (Don Moore)
I like the "Tropical band" name for new 60m allocation. (OK1RP)

60m newsletter 9-30-21 by Joe, W8GEX

September 30, 2021
Joe Pater W8GEX

Since Covid, I haven't sent as many newsletters out because the DXpedition activity has been very low to none at all. Years ago when I started, it was to generate activity and now there have been 235 countries on the band. I only report 60m DX news. I send out notes to upcoming DXpeditions asking them to get on the band and hand out a ATNO or to generate activity if the country has been on in the past.

All newsletters are on the website: www.60metersonline.com

Not sure if this trip is still a go, but this is the notice I received:

8Q, MALDIVES (Reminder). Nobby, G0VJG, will once again be active as 8Q7CQ between September 28, and October 13. This will be his third trip there, and this time he will be active from the Island of Innahura (AS-013).

Activity will be on 80-10 meters (this now includes 60m) using SSB and Digital modes. His equipment will be a FT-450D or FT857 with a JUMA 1000 watt amp into HF6V Butternut vertical for the HF bands and a link dipole. QSL via M0OXO's OQRS or direct.

The Gambia:

Gerard (f5nvf ) will be active from 24 October till 19 November as C5C maybe more if he can stay there longer. He will qrv cw & ssb on 60-10 m (100 w with ic7000).
