100 kHz for South Africa on 60m

 

On Friday 25 May South African regulator ICASA published the National Radio Frequency Plan 2018 in which amateur radio was allocated 100 kHz on a shared basis in the 60 metre band as well as channel 5 290 kHz for the 5 MHz propagation research project. The spectrum 5 350 to 5 450 kHz is now available to all licensed radio amateurs on a shared non-interference basis, with a power limit of 15W EIRP. The SARL Council is working on the 60 m band plan using Recommendation LA17_C4_REC_02 from the 2017 Region 1 General Conference as basis. Council will publish the band plan as soon as possible and then operation on 60 metres can start.

 

In addition, the channel 5 290 kHz has been allocated for WSPR beacons deployed in the SARL Propagation Research project and members can continue to use this frequency.

Beijing authorizes 60m from July 1
CRAC report the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in Beijing has announced that on July 1 radio amateurs will have access to the 5 MHz (60m) WRC-15 band 

A Google translation of the CRAC website reads:

On April 18, 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published the latest version of the “PRC Radio Frequency Division Regulations” in the form of Decree 46. This revision was made in accordance with the Radio Regulations of the People's Republic of China, the 2016 edition of the Radio Regulations adopted by the ITU World Radio Conference 2015, and the development of our radio service.

According to the newly promulgated "Regulations of the People's Republic of China for Radio Frequency Division," since July 1 this year, amateur radio amateurs in China will be able to set up amateur radio stations in the frequency band of 5351.5-5366.5 kHz, which will be used as a secondary service conditionally.

4X - Izrael on 60m news by IARC

Israeli 60m permits now available on yearly basis

For several years Israeli Amateurs have had access to 8 three kilohertz-wide channels at 5 MHz by means of personal permits.

Permission was initially valid from the application approval date until mid March 2014. Permits are now renewable in April of each year.

Operation is on a secondary status with a maximum power of 100W PEP measured at the TX (not EIRP). All modes are available, but on specified channels. Split operation is not allowed.

3Y0Z will transmit CW and USB modes on 5.400kHz and will listen for Europe on 5.353kHz.

We will listen for FT8 on 5.357kHz.
We will transmit low between 200 and 500Hz and listen up. PLEASE don't TX on our freq.

OK - ZL on 60m challenge opened

Hi all,

as the Kiwis mates got an experimental permission for 60m band already the OK - ZL 60m band challenge is opened.

Unfortunately the 10W/15W e.i.r.p is allowed on both sides so the question is... is it possible to work them on this band using moderate or even desperado-bad antennas?

The VOACAP says "mission impossible"...

In any case the external receiving antennas for 60m band as same as large antennas on of the sides are promising few percentages... Well I am going to try the receiving loops and if neighbors will allows then also temporary Beverage for 60m band reception.

Do you know this farm?

The worse situation is with my TX antenna as I have still only low inverted V dipole with folded legs on the post-stamp lot... even worse with 15W only.
